Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a dermocosmetic procedure designed to cause accelerated, controlled skin regeneration. Each unique formula allows the chemical exfoliants to act at various depths giving the practitioner the flexibility to design bespoke treatments. The action of the peel on skin tissue enhances the removal of external layers to stimulate collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycan production, also improving the physiological and mechanical properties.

A Chemical face peel is a cosmetic treatment that removes a layer of damaged skin from the face to reveal a newer, healthier layer. The chemical peel solution applied causes trauma to the epidermis of the skin, which causes the outer layers to peel away. When the skin begins to heal, increased cell growth produces new, healthier skin layers that give the face a more youthful appearance*. Our chemical peels also use naturally occurring acids and active ingredients to brighten the skin.

Chemical face peels can be a simple, fast and highly effective way to achieve radiant skin. They can also be used to dramatically lessen the appearance of breakouts or marks on the skin from previous breakouts.

The most suitable peel for your skin will be determined at consultation.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments you will need depends on the type of chemical peel and your individual skin concerns. Typically:

  • Light/Superficial Peels: You may need a series of 3-6 treatments spaced about 2-4 weeks apart for optimal results.

  • Medium Peels: Often, 1-3 treatments are required, with sessions spaced about 4-6 weeks apart.

  • Deep Peels: Usually, only one treatment is needed, but recovery time is longer, and the results are more dramatic and long-lasting.

For areas like the intimate region, neck, or back, a personalised treatment plan will be created based on your skin type and desired results. Maintenance treatments may also be recommended for prolonged benefits. Your specialist will assess your skin and recommend the ideal number of sessions during your consultation.

Are chemical peels safe for all skin types?

Yes, chemical peels can be tailored to suit various skin types, including sensitive or darker skin tones. However, the type of peel and strength will be adjusted to your skin’s needs to avoid irritation or pigmentation issues. A consultation with a skin specialist will help determine the safest and most effective treatment for your specific skin type.

Is there any downtime after a chemical peel?

Yes, the amount of downtime depends on the type of peel.

  • Light peels typically involve little to no downtime, with mild redness or flaking that resolves in a few days.

  • Medium peels may require 5-7 days of recovery, with peeling and some redness.

  • Deep peels can have a longer recovery time of 1-2 weeks, with noticeable peeling, redness, and possible swelling. Your skin specialist will provide aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery.
